Itineraries

Our Itineraries are based on the client’s decision depending on the time and interest. When you decide to climb we discuss the suitable itinerary. The client is the master in our case and this is what keeps us apart from other climbing companies in Kenya.

Below are samples of the most used itineraries in Mount Kenya.

Day Trip Via Sirimon Route
Departure from Nairobi is at 0600 hrs to Nanyuki. Transfer to Sirimon gate and Drive to Old Moses camp (3300m), Walk from Old Moses camp to the Met Station and have a picnic lunch. After some photo session head back to the camp and drive back to Nairobi.

4 Days/3 Nights Sirimon in – Sirimon out
Day 1

Departure from Nairobi is at 0600 hrs to Nanyuki. Lunch at Nanyuki Town. Transfer to Sirimon gate and hike to Old Moses camp for overnight (3300m), 3 to 4 hrs hikes (9kms). Old Moses is where you acclimatize as you also come across different vegetation.

Day2

After breakfast Hike to Shipton’s camp (4200m ) through Liki and Makinders valley for overnight (6 to 8 hrs hikes) 17 kms. A great day of scenery.

Day 3

Attempt point Lenana (4985m) at 0300 hrs and descend directly to Old Moses (Judmair) Camp for overnight

After breakfast descend to Sirimon Park Gate to catch your vehicle to your next destination

6 Days/5 Nights Chogoria in out Sirimon

Day 1: Pick up from hotel at about 0600 hrs. It’s then about 3 1/2 hours from Nairobi to Chogoria. Lunch at the town and final arrangements of the porters. Into the Mt. Kenya forest for the 22 km drive to the Park Gate at 2,850m. Depending on road conditions, these 22 km have been known to take all afternoon to do and in really wet conditions it is possible that the top four or five km may be impassable. Jump out of the 4×4 and hike the last the five km for acclimatization. Dinner and camp.

Day 2

After breakfast and sorting of porter loads we set off up the mountain at a nice and easy pace . A slightly longer walk via Lake Ellis gives scenic views of Mugi, Ithunguni and the Giants Billiards Table. Have a picnic lunch at the lake Ellis. Later in the afternoon cut up the left hand hillside to our camp at the road head. Dinner and camp.

Day 3

From  Road head campsite, we continue to move up through the moorland zone. After four hours of beautiful scenery on the ridge we break for hot lunch at lunch point just above the Vivien falls below in the Gorges Valley. Continue up the ridge and cross to Minto’s Hut and next to one of the Hall Tarns. Afternoon walk over to superb views across to “The Temple” and down to Lake Michaelson.

Day 4

After pre dawn breakfast leave Mintos Hut for the summit passing near the Simba Tarn and Harris Tan to Point Lenana which is approximately 4 – 5 hours. After the sunrise at 6.30 and nice views of Kilimanjaro and the Coast line descend back to Mintos for full breakfast and thereafter descend to Shiptons camp for a heavy Breakfast and refreshments. However the climb to point Lenana can also be done at daylight if the client wishes. Dinner and camp.

Day 5

After breakfast walk from Shiptons camp through the Mackinders Valley and have lunch at the Likii River in the Likii Valley. Continue down to the Old Moses camp and have a great last night with champagne if you wish. Dinner and camp.

Day 6

Walk down to the park gate after breakfast. Meet our waiting vehicle at the park gate and drive to Nanyuki town for lunch. Stop by the Equator for a photo shoot and proceed to Nairobi.
